Jussi Kähkönen: “There’s less stress about hockey now.”

“I started mental coaching to improve consistency, especially in back-to-back games.

Through coaching I’ve improved preparation for games and learnt to reset after. I’ve been performing at a more consistent level, and it’s also been reflected in my mood. I’m not as angry at myself anymore, and there’s less stress about hockey now. I’m more mature, able to focus better and take responsibility.

Our three-year coaching process has been a good experience for me and has helped a lot. 

When I first started I was a bit nervous, but now working together feels natural and relaxed.

During sessions we talk about whatever is on my mind. I get to unload all my thoughts regularly and develop things that need improvement. It gives me more confidence.

You can always trust Mirjam. That’s the most important thing, to be able to talk about what you are actually thinking. Mirjam’s questions help me think deeper and truly process everything. After sessions I feel relieved.

I recommend giving mental coaching a try.

It’s definitely helped me and I want to keep using it. I encourage others to be honest about what’s on their mind, it helps to process them. Finding words for how you feel gets easier as coaching goes on.”
