Sebastian Repo: “Coaching helps me stay in the right lane”

Coaching has been a very worthwhile process. It facilitates development and helps me stay in the right lane.

Things can get foggy amidst strong emotions. Mirjam’s clarifying and challenging questions help me gain perspective. As we process things thoroughly together, I become aware of and understand things on a new level.

Having discussed things makes it easier to leave them behind, which in turn allows more room to focus on the game itself.

The way you feel determines how you perform.

I've learned to free myself from unnecessary pressure and stress by approaching things in a different way. The enjoyment of the game has multiplied, which in turn has improved my performance.

Regularity of meetings is important, because a lot can happen throughout the season. There’s a lot of games and training in just one month, so things can pile up easily.

Coaching sessions help you find solutions and tools and move forward. I like to process even the small stuff in our sessions so that I learn all that I can, which helps me moving forward.

Talking about things out loud creates new understanding.  Sometimes all you need is to process things together.

We’ve been working together for 4 years, and I’ve found it important to keep coaching a regular part of my life.

It’s easy to be myself with Mirjam and be direct with what I feel.

Over the years she has learnt to read me well and understand the way I think.  It pays off to be open - the best way to get the help you need is to be completely yourself.

I encourage others to be honest and open to coaching. Coaching has become a part of my life. It’s been important, and played a big role in my development.

I’ve been taking steps forward, and reached my goal of playing in the national team. I feel I am more mature and know myself better. New challenges and situations arise each season, which always calls for new solutions.

I’m excited for what’s to come, and hungry to keep performing at a higher level!
